Made for the winter yard
When owners reach for it.
Mixed into feed, marshmallow root’s natural mucilage forms a soft, soothing layer along the airways and gut. It doesn’t mask a cough. It supports the airways so your horse can settle.
Dusty hay & bedding
For the horse who coughs at the start of work, or the minute the hay net goes up.
Stabled through winter
Longer nights in, closed-up stables, damp yards. Start before the season, not halfway through it.
Pollen & seasonal change
The end-of-winter sneezing and blowing, and the spring pollen that sets some horses off.
“It turned our top jumping horse inside out. From a persistent cough we couldn’t get to the bottom of, to perfectly happy and healthy to compete internationally.”

“2 of the horses have no cough at all… One of these horses was very bad with hay last winter… I didn’t think she would ever be able to eat hay again.”
“My horse struggles throughout winter and I put him on this to help him through the colder weather and it’s been amazing.”
“It definitely has improved her respiratory as she definitely doesn’t cough as much or as severely as she used to.”
What to expect

Week 1–2
Settling in
Mix it into their usual feed every day. Some owners notice a change within the first week or two.
Week 4
Judge it here
Natural support works gradually. We recommend at least 30 days of consistent feeding before you decide.
Ongoing
Part of the routine
Many owners keep their horses on it all year round, especially through winter and pollen season.
If a cough hangs around, or comes with a temperature, discharge or loss of appetite, call your vet first. Marshmallow Root supports a healthy horse alongside good stable management. It isn’t a replacement for a diagnosis.

Questions
What owners ask us.
These are the questions that land in our inbox most. Still unsure? Email info@glasequine.com. Chloe or Jeanette will reply.
Will it help my horse’s cough on dry or dusty hay?
That’s exactly what most owners use it for. Marshmallow root’s natural mucilage supports the airways of horses sensitive to stable dust, hay and pollen. Pair it with good management (soaked or steamed hay, low-dust bedding, fresh air) for the best results. If the cough is new, persistent or comes with a temperature, talk to your vet first.
How soon will I see a difference, and how long should I feed it?
Many horses start to show improvement within a few weeks. We recommend feeding it consistently for at least 4 weeks before you judge it. Lots of our customers keep their horses on it all year round, especially through winter and pollen season.
Is it safe for a laminitis-prone pony?
Yes. It’s a single herb with no added molasses or fillers, and owners feed it to laminitis-prone ponies. If your pony is currently being treated, check with your vet before adding anything new.
My horse has COPD or is under vet treatment. Can I still feed it?
Yes, many of our customers feed it to horses with ongoing breathing issues, alongside their vet’s advice. It’s a supplement to support them, not a replacement for treatment.
Can I feed it with Liquorice Root, Devil’s Claw or other supplements?
Yes. All our supplements are single natural herbs, made to be fed together. For winter coughs we recommend Marshmallow Root with Liquorice Root: they work well together to support the airways and immunity through the colder months.
My horse is really fussy. Will they eat it?
Most horses take it happily, and some go looking for it in their feed. It’s a chopped dried root, not a powder, with an earthy smell. For fussy eaters, mix it well into damp feed and start with a smaller amount. Not sure? Email us before you order.
How much do I feed, and how do I measure it?
A pony or small horse needs about 20g a day; a horse needs 35–40g a day. A measuring scoop comes in every pouch. Pack it in well, as it’s cut root rather than powder.
How long will a 1kg pouch last?
About 7 weeks for a pony or small horse, and about 4 weeks for a horse. If you subscribe, pick the delivery timing that matches and you won’t run out.
Is it competition legal?
Marshmallow Root is suitable for competition horses. (Only our Devil’s Claw and Mellow Mare need to be withdrawn 14 days before competing.) Always check your governing body’s current rules.
Does it help with ulcers?
Marshmallow root supports the stomach lining and helps create a more comfortable gut. If ulcers are suspected or confirmed, speak to your vet: ulcers can need veterinary treatment alongside management changes.
Do you sell bigger bags for multi-horse yards?
Yes. Email info@glasequine.com and we’ll send you pricing for a bulk bag.
